SUSTAINABILITY is becoming an increasingly important direction in business operations. It is rooted in the negative consequences of the neo-liberal development paradigm in the world and the calls for sustainable development by international organisations and national governments. The latter implies that countries, organisations, and individuals focus on achieving economic prosperity and positively impacting the natural environment and society.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS involves interactions and business activities between many countries, companies, and stakeholders. Companies are responding to calls to implement sustainability in their business practices with varying degrees of commitment; some incorporate aspects of all three pillars of sustainability (economic, social, environmental) into their international business practices, while others focus on just one or two. Different types of companies offer many examples of good practices in this area.
The current turbulent global environment represents levers for much-needed transformations of business activities or entire corporate business models towards sustainability and opportunities to reverse harmful socio-economic trends and increase the international competitiveness of countries and companies.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications Deadline: 24 June 2024
Step 1: Before applying, students should send to IntSummSchool.feb@um.si
- A fully signed Confirmation Letter confirming that their home institutions will allow them to apply for ERASMUS+ scholarships for the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
- Short CV (up to 1 page)
- Short motivation letter (up to 150 words)
Step 2: Students apply at https://studentexchange.um.si/. Instructions are available here.
Step 3: Accepted students will receive confirmation of their acceptance (Acceptance Letters) and a pre-completed Learning Agreement by 28 June 2024.
NOTE: After the summer school, students will receive certificates of attendance. This Summer School is a one-week intensive program, so students will not receive grades.
FINANCIAL ASPECTS
There is no tuition fee for the International Summer School »Sustainability in International Business« 2024.
Students cover the travel and accommodation costs from the ERASMUS+ BIP grant.
The University of Maribor covers the costs of at least one meal a day and the expenses of attending social events within the International Summer School Programme.
The University of Maribor will accommodate students in Student Dormitory Tyrševa in Maribor. The price of a stay in a dormitory will be 100 EUR for the whole duration of the International Summer School. Students will pay the cost of their accommodation upon check-in.
