From April 4th to 7th, 2024, the city of Seville hosted the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM), attracting over 1,200 students from across Europe. Among the attendees were 20 students from ESN ATHENA, representing six local sections including 8 from ESN Porto, 6 from ESN Maribor, 2 from ESN Siegen, 2 from ESN VILNIUS TECH, 1 from ESN Hellenic Mediterranean University and 1 from ESN Orleans. The event centred on the theme of “Removing Barriers for Active and Equal Participation,” aiming to enhance international mobility and ensure equal opportunities for all students.
During the conference, participants engaged in over 100 sessions focused on addressing discrimination, promoting equal opportunities, and encouraging active citizenship. These sessions were designed to facilitate dialogue and exchange ideas among students from diverse backgrounds. The event underscored the importance of inclusivity in the Erasmus program and provided a platform for students to discuss challenges and opportunities related to international education.
A highlight of the EGM 2024 was the recognition of ESN Porto as “Erasmus Destination of the Year,” a title awarded through a public vote among participants. This award distinguished Porto from other nominated cities such as Nicosia, Istanbul, Sofia, and Seville, recognising its exceptional contributions to the Erasmus community.
