This influx of students from various regions of the world not only adds to the cultural richness of the program but also fosters a vibrant environment for collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

The Summer School programme provides a platform for knowledge exchange between students, professors, and professionals from partner universities and across the world. Throughout the programme, participants will take short courses on advanced database principles and work in local labs with colleagues from their home universities. They will also be able to connect with students from other colleges who are studying online, boosting international collaboration and accepting varied ideas. Session themes will include data analytics, graph databases, multidimensional databases, online analytical processing (OLAP), data streaming principles, and big data architectural design, led by esteemed lecturers from recognised institutions.

The first four days of classes will each be led by renowned lecturers, with the final day being devoted to assignments that will be completed by international student groups. These lecturers are Dr Martina Šestak from the Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (University of Maribor, Slovenia), Prof. Carlo Drago from the University Niccolò Cusano, Rome, Italy, Prof. Nuno Escudeiro and Prof. Bruno Oliveira from the Instituto Politécnico do Porto (P.PORTO), Portugal.

All attendees will get a certificate of participation upon completion of the programme. The winning group will also receive the exclusive opportunity to present their work at the forthcoming ATHENA European University conference, which will be held in Heraklion, Greece, in September 2023.

While this Summer School is about to begin, we encourage you to look into the other ATHENA partner universities’ Summer Schools and training programmes. These programmes are designed to provide individuals at various levels of study with significant insights and hands-on experience in their respective subjects. Keep an eye out for upcoming programmes and incredible opportunities!
