We are proud to announce our collaboration with partners from around the world on the ABC – Africa BlendEd Core project.
The project is in collaboration with institutions such as the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, Hellenic Mediterranean University, University of Siegen, University of Nigeria, Federal University of Technology Minna, Eduardo Mondlane University, Zambeze University, Makerere University, Soroti University, Odisee and Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture.
The mission of the project is to foster cross-border collaboration among students, transcending disciplines and nations, and create impactful projects for local communities. This initiative not only fuels students’ enthusiasm but also equips them with essential skills for the job market-think teamwork, entrepreneurship, critical thinking, and communication.
The BlendEd course model was created in Europe in 2008 and further refined through the MUTW a multilateral project co-funded by the LLP programme of the European Commission. It has caught the attention of the European Commission as a good practice in higher education. This approach enhances soft skills, global perspectives, and networks, preparing students for the challenges of today’s job market.
ABC BlendEd is set to adapt this paradigm to the unique context of African universities, starting with agriculture and expanding to other fields and regions in the coming years. The goals include boosting student employability, empowering stakeholders, and creating a community of practice to drive change.
This project marks a significant milestone in ATHENA’s journey as a high-impact initiative. Leveraging ATHENA’s best practices, we’re on a mission to grow the European Union and African Union cooperation. Through a dynamic community that unites students, teachers, researchers, and industry leaders, we’re supporting collaborative, cross-continental courses that transcend borders and boundaries. Together, we’re forging a brighter future for education on a global scale.
