From November 17–21, 2025, UMCS administrative staff took part in a study visit to VILNIUS TECH in Vilnius, Lithuania. The visit was organized as part of the project “The power of relations – działania na rzecz wzmocnienia potencjału UMCS w zakresie obsługi studentów z zagranicy” (original spelling), funded under the NAWA Welcome to Poland program, and proved to be an extremely valuable experience.

During the visit, participants had the opportunity to learn how key university units at VILNIUS TECH operate, exchange experiences, and discuss topics such as the quality of education, the digitalization of teaching processes, international recruitment, and student support services.

Exchange of Experiences

On the first day, the UMCS team learned about the structure and strategic directions of VILNIUS TECH’s development. They were introduced to solutions used by the Academic Affairs Office in the areas of education quality assurance and the digitalization of academic services. During a meeting with the Admission and Information Center, best practices in student recruitment were discussed.

The second day focused on internationalization. The International Studies Center presented its activities related to marketing and recruiting international students. The Academic Support Center showcased a model for developing lecturers’ competencies and a student support system, including assistance for students with individual needs. The day concluded with a visit to the Centre for Strategic Partnership, where the UMCS team learned about career development support services and the use of Digital Badges.

On the final day, the delegation visited the Faculty of Creative Industries and learned about faculty-level solutions supporting services for international students.

Strengthening International Relations

The visit resulted in the establishment of new contacts, the exchange of inspiring experiences, and the identification of areas for potential cooperation between UMCS and VILNIUS TECH. It marked an important step toward strengthening international relations within the ATHENA alliance and contributing to the continuous improvement of education quality across partner institutions.
