The moment you have all been waiting for is finally here! The ATHENATHON is coming back for its fourth edition.
This year, we are introducing ATHENATHON+: a new and improved version with conferences focusing on our usual ATHENATHON values: European identity, Green Mobility and Well-being and health. As a student or staff of ATHENA, you will have the opportunity to attend a multitude of events at your respective universities but also some others from our partners. And to foster multilingualism, most of the events will be in the language of the local university (though some will be in English as well).

European University alliances – opportunities for the region of North Rhine-Westphalia
To celebrate Europe Day 2024, ATHENA and the University of Siegen, together with eight other universities from the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, invite you to the event “European University alliances – Opportunities for North RhineWestphalia”. European University alliances are innovative partnerships between different universities and higher education institutions in Europe that pursue a common mission. The aim of the alliances is to strengthen international cooperation in the areas of teaching, research and innovation, to promote the international mobility of students and employees and to transform the European Higher Education Area through a new and future-proof form of collaboration. This also offers innovative and unprecedented opportunities for North Rhine-Westphalia, which will be presented and discussed at the event. The event is organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and in the framework of the DAAD’s “Week of European Universities 2024”.

On European Day: A Meaningful Gift to the International VILNIUS TECH Community
In celebration of European Day, a symbol of peace and solidarity in Europe, let’s get to know each other better. We are excited to extend a warm invitation to the international VILNIUS TECH community for an enlightening lecture, join us to gain deeper insights into Lithuania’s journey as we host political scientist Linas Kojala for an exclusive lecture in English titled “Unlock Lithuania: How It Became a Strong and Independent Country?“. We look forward to welcoming you on 9th May, at 10:00 CET, in the VILNIUS TECH (SRA-I) A03 auditorium.
European Day commemorates the spirit of unity across the continent. Linas Kojala, a distinguished political scientist, commentator, lecturer, and director of the Eastern European Studies Centre (RESC), will guide us through a profound exploration of Lithuania’s past and present. He will help us better understand Lithuania’s past and present, our values and struggles for freedom, the challenges Lithuania had to overcome when becoming a member of NATO as well as the European Union (EU) — marking the 20th anniversary of our membership—and Lithuania’s principled stance on the conflict in Ukraine instigated by the aggressor country.
The lecture “Unlock Lithuania: How It Became a Strong and Independent Country?” will be conducted in English, so we especially invite the entire international VILNIUS TECH community – students and teachers from abroad.

City Cycling Siegen 2024
City Cycling is a competition that involves completing as many daily journeys as possible in an environmentally friendly manner using your bike over a 21-day period. Whether you ride every day or cycled only rarely until now. Every kilometre counts – and even more so if you would have completed the journey by car otherwise.

European Elections 2024

Europa-Wahl 2024: Use Your Vote! / European elections: Use Your Vote!
We want to build awareness about the elections and the importance to exercise one’s right to vote. At an information booth in the lobby of our campus we will distribute information material, talk about the elections with bypassers (CUAS students and staff), and offer European star-shaped cookies (possibly also coffee). We will decorate the lobby and cafeteria at our campus. Two students will support us.

Sport- und Bewegungscamp am Millstätter See / Sports and exercise camp at Lake Millstatt
A day of exercise and fun, where you can try out different sports and find your balance with body, mind and soul. The sports and exercise camp at Lake Millstatt is suitable for all those who are interested in exercise and are mindful of their bodies. The aim is to try out various sports programmes and complete training courses under professional guidance. Participants can expect a sporty, active and at the same time enjoyable day in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.

Bicycle Tour around Faaker See
Staff members from CUAS’ School of Management will take their bikes for a green and healthy bonding activity while enjoying the stunning landscapes from Carinthia. This bike ride is departing from and coming back to CUAS campus in Villach around the beautiful Faaker See (Lake Faak). The total distance is estimated to be around 35 km.

21. Siegerländer AOK Firmenlauf 2024 / Companies run 2024
On 3 July 2024, the city centre of Siegen will once again become a racetrack. The 21st Siegerländer company run will start at Bismarckplatz in Weidenau. The course will run 5,535 metres across the city, with thousands of spectators cheering on – and the University of Siegen will be running along.
