ATHENA European University convened its staff from all partner institutions in Barcelona (4–5 October 2025) to conduct a comprehensive review of progress in education, research, and innovation. Using the ATHENA Cluster framework, the teams evaluated achievements to date and defined pathways to scale successful actions across the Alliance. Weekly online meetings will continue throughout the year, with the next major coordination session planned for late February 2026.
This sustained, structured coordination—maintained even during a full year of self-funded operation—demonstrates a deep institutional commitment to the European University Initiative’s long-term vision. ATHENA’s partners collectively affirm that the Alliance is not a project but a strategic transformation mechanism. Their continued investment of time, expertise, and institutional resources reflects a shared determination to advance a truly integrated European higher education ecosystem that enhances excellence, resilience, and global impact.
