On June 10 and 11, ATHENA Cluster Leaders met for a strategic and organisational session at the INCYTE Research Center of the University of Siegen. ATHENA focuses its activities on four clusters: Digitalization for All, Sustainable Production, Health & Wellbeing, and Creative Industries.
Representatives from the University of Orléans, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin, and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) participated discussions aimed at increasing the visibility of the clusters within the partner universities and encouraging greater involvement of both staff and students. Participants were invited on a tour of the new INCYTE Research Center, led by Prof. Dr. Haring-Bolívar, who highlighted the wide range of research opportunities available, including international collaborations.
At the invitation of Prof. Dr. von Hehl, the group also visited the Buschhütten campus. Colleagues from the Chair of Materials Science and Testing and the Chair of International Production Engineering and Management (IPEM) presented their expertise in materials development and analysis, production management, and digitalization. They also guided the visitors through the historic industrial building that houses the Siegen Smart Demonstration Factory (SDFS). The tour was followed by a discussion of joint research topics.
A visit to the open creative workshop FabLab Siegen concluded the event by strengthening cooperation in the field of education. Participants also explored opportunities to develop a joint degree programme in cooperation with “LinkMenų fabrikas”, a creative innovation and prototyping centre of VILNIUS TECH.
The ATHENA team would like to extend its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this fruitful meeting!
